Last year was full of phenomenal fishing trips and catches. We are beyond excited to see what this year brings. Let the new year resolutions reflect the need to do more fishing. January offers an array of catches like much of the winter season. The persistent cold fronts will continue to produce cooler wind and water temperatures. These cold snaps will push and sway migratory species and will produce new bodies of fish.
Natural and artificial reefs will be harboring those delicious schools of various structure oriented snapper species. The are still doing their transitory movements. With a little effort you can find and lock in on these snapper snow birds by simple finding the snappers niche of choice. Be prepared for other reef species to hop on the hook such as Trigger fish and Black Sea Bass. Visit some of your personal favorite structures or check out www.floridagofishing.com for GPS coordinates along the entire Treasure Coast.
Front runner Pelagics for the month of January feature a combination of Spanish and King Mackerel as well as Cobia. Fish smack on the brain? Fresh catches of the day will make for a delicious appetizer and these darting delights will be seen shooting from the water left and right. Cobia, Sailfish and Mahi catches will continue to be reported. While making your way offshore don't forget to stop by buoys and check out floating debris there could be a prized Triple tail seeking shelter don't miss out on being that lucky angler.
Lets hope for a less wind this month than last so we can continue with more great catches this nautical new year. We want to thank everyone who has come out fishing with us this past year and we hope to see many new faces as well as those that we frequently do in 2018. Tight lines and good vibes!
